No. 751W "O" Gauge Union Pacific Streamliner with Whistle

The first scale-model streamline ever produced. Now equipped with Lionel's authentic railroad whistle that is controlled from a distance. By every measurement, this train is one forty-fifth actual size of that streamlined beauty of the Union Pacific that established the first trans-continental speed record in its spectacular race from California to New York.

The train is 46 inches long and consists of three illuminated cars. The first car, No. 752W, is a combination engine and railroad post office with baggage car doors. The second, No. 753, is a long coach lined with windows. The third, No. 754, is a combination buffet and coach, tapering at the end, out of which tiny colored warning lights project. The entire train is enameled in canary yellow and golden brown, the same beautiful color combination that is used by the Union Pacific. It is also available in glistening polished aluminum finish.

An ingenious method of coupling cars into vestibules, on which the wheels are mounted, makes the train look just like a single unit. You uncouple the cars merely by pressing a button on the top of the vestibule. Powered by a specially build, Distant Control motor, with double-reduction gears, it is possible for you to start the train at so low a pace that it barely moves and then increase the speed until it fairly flies around the track. Sixteen sections of No. 761 curved, 2 sections of No 762 straight and 2 sections of 762S insulated straight Model Makers' track are supplied. They form an oval 100 by 72 inches. The No. 762S straight track has 2 rails insulated for use with any automatic accessories you may wish to add. Outfit is complete with whistle controller, Lockon and No. 95 rheostat which can be used at any distance from the track to reverse or regulate the speed of the train.

The original selling price of this unit was $22.50
